Spring COVID-19 Mitigation Guidelines (as of 2/16/21)
by posted 02/16/2021

We’ve received a few inquiries in regards to our planned COVID mitigation efforts for the spring season, so we wanted to take a minute to address them as best as we can at the moment.

Please note that the most recent COVID guidelines from Anne Arundel County Rec & Parks are dated 9/2/2020. If these Return to Play Guidelines are updated at any point, the BBSC Board of Directors will meet to address those changes.

Using our fall on-field mitigation efforts as our model, BBSC plans to continue enforcing the below guidelines, including but not limited to:

- No shared equipment

- 2 spectators per player

- Sidelines social distancing (no pop-up tents)

- Distanced huddles and modified post-game “handshakes” (hat wave)

- Mask wear (when not on the field/dugout)

- Player attendance records

- Temperature checks should be done before going to games/practice for players, volunteers and coaches.

- All are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer and use it frequently throughout games and practices.

Per County guidance, participation in Recreation & Parks programs is only allowed if you have had no signs or symptoms of COVID-19, and you have not been exposed to someone who has had signs or symptoms of COVID-19 for a minimum period of 14 days before participation. If you have had a positive test for COVID-19, you must be cleared from isolation by the Health Department to resume participation.

If a player tests positive for COVID-19, we ask that they please notify their coach, division commissioner, or any BBSC Board Member immediately. The player’s identity will remain anonymous, however the Board of Directors will determine whether a suspension of team, division or league activities is required or appropriate.

County Return to Play Guidelines (9/2/2020):

Finally, just another reminder that March 7th is the FINAL DAY to register for the spring season! Please visit the BBSC website for more information. We're looking forward to getting back out on the diamonds!

Team First,

Chad Runge
BBSC President

Spring Rec League Registration is OPEN!!!
by posted 01/11/2021

2021 is here and we’re optimistic that it’s going to be a great one for baseball and softball on the Broadneck Peninsula! Registration for our spring rec programs are now OPEN!

Register here:

The final day to register is Sunday, March 7, 2021. Recreation league evaluations are scheduled for Saturday March 13, 2021. Times and location will be sent following the close of registration.

We have identified that the revised county high school sports schedule will affect registration of many 9-12th grade players. Once the BHS and county cooperative league spring sports plans are released, BBSC will announce our own plans to accommodate affected players.

I’d also like to take a minute to talk about a few changes going into the new year…

  • We’d like to welcome Traviss McIntosh and Darren Towers to our 2021 Board of Directors! Our Board also elected its officers last week. 2021’s Executive Committee will consist of: Chad Runge (President), Dennis McGinley (VP Baseball), Mike Dameron (VP Softball & Treasurer), Dave Stephens (Player Agent), and Jon Hicks (Secretary)

  • We have updated our volunteer refund policy. Volunteer refunds are no longer capped at $60. Families may now receive refunds of up to $100 by serving multiple times throughout the season. Volunteer refund amounts have been amended to the following:

    • Head Coaches: $100

    • Assistant Coaches: $70 (1 per team)

    • NEW!! Team Groundskeeper: $70 (1 per team)

    • Concessions/Special Project Shift: $30 (per 3hr shift)

BBSC is also looking for volunteers to fill the following positions:

    • Registrar

    • Concessions Stand Openers

    • Equipment Managers

    • Social Media Managers

More information about volunteer opportunities will be sent as soon as it becomes available. If you are interested in hearing more about any of the above opportunities, please email .

  • Last week, our Board approved the following 2021 COVID cancellation policy. If the season is cancelled due increased safety measures required by the National CDC, State of Maryland, or Anne Arundel County, refunds will be granted in the following manner:

    • If the season is cancelled prior to Opening Day (4/10): 100% refund.

    • Players will be charged $15 for jersey if uniform order has been placed. Jersey will be made available for pickup.

    • If the season is cancelled between 4/10 - 5/10: $50 refund granted per player

    • If the season is cancelled after 5/10: No refund

All refunds will be granted in the form of BBSC credits, unless otherwise requested. (Normal (non-COVID related) refund instructions are listed on the registration page.)

If you have any questions about the spring season, volunteer opportunities, or new policies, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Board ( ). We look forward to getting back out on the diamonds this spring and can’t wait to see you!
